I'm debating buying some after reading very good reviews - not much about the maker here in England, although a known name in car audio in the USA....Alpine seem to be the brand here in the UK - Opinions please ;-)

 

I've used them in a number of car installations over the years. Consistently excellent quality and a reasonable value. If you're looking for the most bass or the brightest highs, look elsewhere - these products are designed for flat frequency response. To an audiophile, that's a good thing.

 

I've used Boston Acoustics since 1989 at home and in my old XJ6 Series III and they sound GREAT with classical music -- very natural sound & faithful to the music source. Some feel they might be bass-deficient in other music genres but I don't think that's the speakers' fault. They're built to reproduce music exactly, not to add artificial coloring for 'thumping bass' effects.

So, it all depends on your musical preferences.

The Alpine speakers in my 05 XJ8L are OK at best, lacking the clarity and airy high notes of my old Bostons. I plan to upgrade one of these days.
