Diesel tuning boxes
Hello
My first 'proper' post here.... I would be very interested in peoples experience with any diesel tuning boxes that fit between the ecu and sensors etc. I plan to try one, perhaps Bluespark (any other suggestions ?) on my 2.0D X Type, but some feedback would be great. Thanks Graham |
Hi there, just a few brief notes.
I have heard many experiences on the tuning boxes, both good and bad. I can't make a personal comment as I have'nt tried one myself, but have had 3 remaps, all of which I have been pleased with. Have you checked out "Roverrons" diesel tuning boxes, synergy II I think it is? These have been made specifically to suit the 2.0d and 2.2d found in both the Ford Mondeo and Jaguar X type. Lots or rave reviews about them, perhaps worth checking out if you haven't already. Best Jim |
I have a Synergy 2a, it's good but not as good as a properly done remap as the tuning box only plays with the fuel supply.

Thanks for the info, was amused when I read this...
http://www.crdtechnology.com/select-...el-tuning-box/ The whole point of the article seems to be saying that remaps are the best and that tuning boxes are a bad thing. Then, at the end, they try and sell you their own tuning box.... As it has 5 selectable maps it must be fine. If I do this at all then it is likely to be a tuning box, the Bluespark pro looks good (and it has 10 maps ! ), the Synergy II also a candidate + plus a German one (forget the name at the moment). Still looking.... Graham ps - then I looked at the price of the 'crdtechnology' tuning box. Ouch. |
Thanks Graham......
The Synergy II by Roverron is a very well tried n tested version as run by many many Mondeo / Jaguar owners......there's plenty of them on the UK site that will atest to this. Whatever you go for, whatever you decide please be sure to come back and share your experience here. Good luck |
Right now it is a choice between the Bluespark Pro & Synergy II, they are both very interesting devices. Two other things I should to consider first - the insurance and sorting out the (probably) crud filled EGR/hoses first.
Anyone managed to convince their insurance co that the Synergy II 2e box is not a tuning mod (ie no BHP increase) ? Thanks G |
Right, took a while but I finally fitted a Bluespark Pro at the weekend, and....
So far I am really impressed, it is set on the default (as it was delivered - economy 2 position), and the power is definitely increased, it is smoother and quieter, and the current onboard mpg readout is 51.5 (it touched 52.3) - way up from my usual 45 ish - this is with a fair bit of stop-start and general town driving as well as motorway cruising. No smoke (as far as I can tell), no tickover clatter, and no MIL's; I will fill up on Friday and see what the more accurate mpg is, last time I filled up the onboard mpg readout was under-reading by 2-3mpg ...... So far, so good. Graham Edit: The car is a 2.0D - for some reason the sig doesn't want to show itself. |
Thanks Graham, good news
Be sure to report back....... |
