Can the SLM be the cause of irregular tail light blinking when applying left turn signal only. No issues with the right signal at all. The irregularity begins when I apply the brakes, or turn the rest of the light on.

All I know from the question is you have a diesel engined vehicle. No indication of Model, Year or Location - all of which are relevant to such an electrical issue.
