Current exterior paint code for Series One XK-E?
Can anyone recommend a U.S. supplier for the Dark Opalescent Green exterior color on a 1965-67 E-Type? I found online some older RM and Glasurit paint code numbers (7416 and JAG-7416 A) but nothing current. I'm looking for some high quality touch-up paint but I'm a bit hesitant to leave a painted part with a shop to match it. Any leads appreciated!
Are you doing a complete re-paint? If so, buying the correct code paint is great. But if you're just doing a repair/section, I wouldn't go the code route. Over the years, our paint has changed colour considerably. I'd go for a proper colour match at a reputable paint shop.
I agree with dibbyandco,
For touch up paint, take a painted part or the car to a good automotive paint store. They can match the present color/condition of the paint and put it in an aerosol can or in a can for brushed touch ups.
If you are doing a complete repaint, than going with the original paint code is the way to go. The paint will be modern base coat/clear coat. Let us know how it turned out.

Thanks Daytona and dippandco,
I have a good shop here in San Diego - Jaguar XKE, E-Type, Jaguar Restoration Specialists | Classic Showcase.com Classic Jaguars, Collector Cars, European Classic Cars, Jaguar E-Types For Sale - mixing up some touch-up paint now as the small supply I had was no long a perfect match. Here in California, only water-based automotive paints are now allowed so that led to more self-education. I've read that most OEM automakers have changed to waterborne paints, which are a lot more durable now than several years ago. I'll let you know how things progress - this is for very minor touch-ups and no panel refinishing, etc.
