Default Thoughts on steer assist on the f-pace?

I知 looking to get an F-pace. I had a 2019 with Lane Keep Assist, and I知 reading up on steer assist which seems to be a hand-on lane centering technology. I wanted to see if anybody here has it on their f-pace and what they thought.

Welcome to the forums javalsu,

I find every time I change my vehicle the newer replacement has more 'features' I neither want nor need. The day I need to refer to the annoying Lane Assist which cannot detect potholes I'm deliberately avoiding or surrender control to Parking Assist to reverse into a space, I'll hand in my driving licence.

I've used the park assist on mine once, just to give it a go, not sure if i can remember how it works now.

Steer Assist and Lane Keep Assist are two different beasts. I have LKA on my MY21 F-pace, and basically if I cross lanes it gently nudges the car back to the lane it has veered out of. On my wifes range rover, it has steering assist. This keeps you within the lane and effectively steers the car to make sure your remain in the lane, though you must keeps your hands on the wheel. If you take them off it will alert you after about 10s. Both systems rely on being able to detect the lines on the road. Steering Assist is far more intrusive than LKA.

I have the lane keeping on my F-Pace, but I'm not at all impressed. It just plays ping-pong between the lanes and it's better than nothing if you're not paying attention, but it is nothing like a Toyota that just keeps you right in the middle and does the steering for you.
