I would think this has to be the security system.

sov211 was referring to the hazard switch light, not the security lamp. So your thought is correct. ;)

Battery disconnect involves removing the negative lead from the battery for half a minute or so. That resets any modules that have been locked on by the use of the OBD port. It's a known quirk, not everything you plug into the OBD has the effect but many do. I believe the symptom is that the light stays on in the hazard switch if the problem has occurred - check it an hour after locking the car and if it's on, do the battery disconnect!

Now your battery has gone flat I suspect the modules will have reset already. Battery should be fine after a recharge.

I agree with Noshame and SCM. Had the same problem with my 2017 F-Type R after I had my annual emissions check here in the States. Drove me crazy until I found this forum.

Even an apparently dead battery needs to be disconnected to reset the battery module. Disconnecting the battery seems to resolve 90% of charging system issues. Since I figured out the reset issue 5 years ago, I’ve not had any battery issues, and Have had no need to use a trickle charger despite letting the car occasionally sit for a few weeks at a time.
