Best color for a used FType

I'm in the market for a used FType and was wondering what the best color would be. Having owned grey cars my whole life I went to look at a 2016 black ftype R yesterday and was dismayed to see the number of swirls and scratches visible on the paint job. Most used cars tend to be lease returns and I guess people just dont give a F running them through the car wash. Is there any hope of finding one that's three years old without these issues? Would a good detailer be able to correct these issues? I am planning on getting ceramic coating on the car I buy but scratches may be hard to hide. So if it ends up not being black, I don't want white as I feel the lines of the F type don't show up as well in white and it's a bit boring...what other colors would be good at masking swirls and such?

Yes, the swirls can be removed. Most coating appliers will do the paint correction in prep for the coating,

This one is 4 years old (MY15), and was paint corrected (professionally polished) and ceramic coated (Gtechniq Crystal Serum Pro) when 1 years old. It is still scratch and swirl free, and has not had any other treatments done last 3 years.

Pics taken this summer during a weekend trip, so not perfectly clean. Colour is IRR (Italien Racing Red).

...and IRR looks different colours in different lights. I've had silver for my first XF and XKR (shows lines nicely, easy to keep clean, matches my hair) and black for my second XF (unbeatable looks just after it has been washed, but that only lasts minutes) and now have IRR for the F Type and the XE. Absolutely beautiful and a real attention getter, if that is your thing.https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.jag...bb7a56c7fa.jpg

Stratus Grey

F type looks great in many colors, but hard to beat white (with the black pack, please!) for an easy to maintain finish that doesn't show swirls.

If you like the look of black, with somewhat less work, stratus grey is a cool option - it looks black in most situations, but has a lot of grey in it that gives a bit of a chameleon effect and it doesn't seem to hlgh light swirls and imperfections as much as a true black does.

Firesand Metallic and Rhodium Silver did it for me, as you can see my father prefers the silver

False. The lines of the F-Type show up amazingly in white.

Best Color

The F type looks great in any color. After having many black and silver cars over the past 15 years I decided to go with:

I just got mine, so sorry for being late to the thread.
The car is Dark Sapphire and the color is one of the reasons I choose this one.

I'm just going by what is written on my build sheet and the Jaguar color sheet:

That being said, I prefer your name, so I might call it that from now on :icon_wink:

I agree. White is a classy color for a classy car like the F-Type.https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.jag...496b9cba7f.jpg

I agree about the white. A car has to be beautiful to pull it off. F-Type, Huracan, and others. White + an average car = ugly car.

Ugly cars look more attractive in darker colors. Black can hide a lot of design mistakes.

Jaggyx 08-28-2018 10:20 AM

An F-Type can look good in just about any color depending on the accent colors of the wheels, brake calipers, and/or other elements like whether your trim is chrome or gloss black. It's all about the "package" you put together as opposed to the color itself.

I've always loved white cars, but decided to go with black this time as I think this car looks incredibly aggressive in the darker colors. I also love the dark grey's. As you know, with a black car, be prepared to spend some time polishing once a year, but if you can maintain it via a good wash procedure, it's a stunning look.

I love white on the F-type, but I do notice in this picture at least the OP has a point - some of the lines and creases don't show as much as with other colors, at least in this lighting. Still, so much easier to care for than most other colors.
