^^ Absolutely 1 of 19. Plus even if you are a sorry excuse for a salesperson and don't know what you are doing, you will still easily sell a car at a wholesale price + a little more.

Well I've reached out to my car buddies to see if anyone is interested as well as contacting dealers but what I'm getting is the car just isn't very popular in this area and therefore there is no interest...regardless of the condition or super low miles.

Perhaps I'd get more play in the Bay Area but really don't have the time to deal with that.

This is very encouraging news for us middle-class folk who would like to purchase a used F-Type!!!! I'm hoping a 2016 Manual F-Type Coupe will be under $40k within the next year!

Me TOO!
We are not there yet but it won't be to much longer. My 2007 XKR with 19,000 miles one owner was $28,000, when the V-8 F-Types get to the mid 30's with under 25,000 miles we will spool one up. That is unless a 2013 XKRS shows up with above criteria. I can always hope.

I just got my 911 appraised at carMax - $7k over what Jag was willing to give me in trade. This will be my third car I will have sold to CarMax. I have been very happy with them. That is a huge depreciation. Not thrilled as a buyer but I plan to put 25k miles a year on the car and don't expect a lot for it in 3 years when I will likely get something new.

Buying a car like this will always be an emotional decision. I knew it would've been smarter to wait and buy my F-Type, but it was love at first sight when saw my baby in Italian racing Red. My 2015 R only has 11,000 miles so I've babied it considerably, but seeing these depreciation numbers actually makes me feel better about driving it more aggressively. I will say my F-Type has given me far more joy than 11k miles would suggest, as those miles were accrued at an average of 80-100mph on Texas highways. More so than the top speed is also the incomparable acceleration, going 0-60 in 3.5 seconds, truly a unique feeling. I also have an Audi A7, a fine car in its own right, but that's more of a cushy cruiser vs. the brawny F-Type.

Things that are "the" best don't always win. If that were the case, Novell would still have been dominating the computer networking operating systems market. Instead, marketing won over and everything is Windows regardless of how inferior it is. The Fischer car was an AMAZING technological advancement in it's drive train but nobody gives a shaving creme and everyone bought Tesla. Not because it was a superior car but because it was MARKETED far, far better. The only thing Jag is missing is their ENTIRE marketing campaign.

If JLR does buy Maseratti as it is rumored, do you REALLY think the F-Type will continue to be offered when they can make more $$'s selling the Masa varient of it that makes 200HP more? Sure, the Masa is expensive but these SVR's are also cracking the $120K to $150K barriers before discounts so in reality the F-Type competes in the $100K range quite frequently. Certainly you don't think that JLR really cares about those of us that want a $60K-$80K (Max) 2 seater sports car, do ya? LOL

I hear you...but when the local dealership passes on a 7600 mile car and can't even get any interest from salespeople calling perspective clients who might be on the fence...there seriously isn't any demand for it locally.

I could see not wanting to tie up your money in a loaded 3 year old R but this is a base model with about $10k in options...you would think that would be prime inventory, especially still in the wrapper.

I think in the long term I believe you've got the the right car for holding value as the MT's are getting fewer and farther between. My wife just got her new Mini Cooper S and we had to special order the MT. Shift Happens.

Today, I was stopped at a school crossing and 20 middle school kids were yelling "cool car" and begging me to honk the horn. I did, and they all started squealing and laughing! Meanwhile, an anonymous black MB S-Class was next to me, no honk requests from that fellow.

Don1954, when the first question is “What is it?” I would not expect a high residual value to follow. The F is a niche car that appeals to very few people, there is no reason the used market should be any different than the new market. Just accept the fact that it is not a popular car which leads to big discounts new and wonderful bargains used for those of us who happen to like it.

I don't know if they all that rare or unknown based on annual F Type sales in U.S. and Canada found here: Jaguar F-Type Sales Figures -

About the same as the Cayman and quite a bit more than Boxsters - interesting site.

4,000 units out of 16,000,000 qualifies as rare in my book. But everyone has their own vocabulary. I have been in the Chicago suburbs for the last 6 months and have seen exactly one other F Type whereas I see a couple of Ferraris everyday and Maseratis are as common as Jeeps. I agree I don’t see many low end Porsches the upper end of the range is more popular.

I've been driving sports cars my whole life, now 69! They all depreciate more than average and I have bought quite a few CPO. The price to pay for the fun!
