I also had the feature on my RS5, and never bothered to use it once, even on track days. It was AWD though, so inducing any significant wheel spin was almost impossible. I agree with Stealthpilot - the R is probably the model that really justifies having it, to help put all that power to the road rather than into clouds of blue smoke. BUT... Would I use it? Unlikely.

I seldom find myself in a position to use it - stopped, with a straight clear road ahead. But it is fun - I did manage to put together a nice 0 - 100MPH on the way to work this summer, from a stoplight.

Yes...why bother....

Again: Launch control is not traction control. It controls the torque converter stall speed to enhance torque on takeoff. Particularly useful on under-torqued engines (332-339 lb-ft). Not so necessary on high torque engines (502 lb-ft)

I've used it to win stoplight drags. Works, I'm sure it is great for tire company! My SLK55 didn't have it but didn't really need it. Rear tires lasted 6000 miles!

Launch control is available in the base model with the manual transmission. ;)

"Not fitted to all derivatives"
The manual is the same manual for all F types.

Most of us logically thought that meant it was not fitted to the "base" models. We knew the S models have features the base models didn't and in typical fashion the Rs would "naturally" have more features rather than fewer as it is higher in the line but alas, that does not appear to be the case. So beit. No launch on the R's or SVRs then I guess. GOT IT!
