Must see: The best F-Type R testing and review ever on Earth!
It is kind of silly to call the F-Type R a GT car after seeing this detailed examination. It’s clearly a Sports car and a Super Car in Convertible Trim!☮️ |
Loved that video! Thanks for sharing.
How I wish I could ship mine to Germany and run it on the autobahn. I got a Mercedes up to 225 kph (140 mph) about 15 years ago when I was driving from Hamburg to Stuttgart. Would love to get my F-type up to 300 kph (186 mph) like that guy does in the video! |

How I wish I could ship mine to Germany and run it on the autobahn. I've seen him in person before. I haven't pushed the Jag to the limit yet, the highway here is pretty busy. With my previous car, an Audi S7 Stage 1 540 hp, I once reached 318 km/h according to the gauge. |
I was surprised when I viewed this that it was in German. My German is OK, but not good enough to watch this and catch all of what was being said at conversational speed. I resorted to cheating.
If you click on the CC (Closed Captioning) icon in the lower right corner of the video and then go to Settings and translate it to English you can see what is being said. The translation does a pretty good job. You can understand most of what is being discussed, although the translation is a bit comical at times. |
The visuals are stunning!
Plus the car does all the talking!😀 |

Assuming you are keeping the valves fully open all the time some way, otherwise it’s not very loud unless you are on it.

Actually, you just put it in sport mode and shift manually slowly and it will be as loud as a Ferrari!☮️
That said, it's all relative to expectations. If you're interested, there is an ASR device available that will safely allow for having the valves fully open when you want. It is discussed on the "PSA on fuse 15" thread. I'm literally about to order mine from ASR right now. Once you experience that (assuming you haven't) it will be a WOW moment for you. Even with the valves open fully on the stock setup I'd like a bit more, so I've been looking at aftermarket exhaust options as well. But even stock with the valves fully open is a dramatic difference from stock without the valves fully open all the time. Cheers |

Sounds like you don't even know what you are missing. I could not drive this car and enjoy it without something to keep the valves fully open...THAT really will allow you to enjoy the car going slow...The default behaviour of the car is way too quiet for me without stepping into it quite heavily.

Cheers In my last message I would keep the revs over 3200 ( that’s what I meant by shifting slower); thereby opening the valves and giving that race car sound plus pops! However, I took an 11 hour drive earlier this year and I’m so glad I could cruise at 75 quietly. I had a Cobra that was so loud at freeway speeds that it was annoying and I couldn’t hear anything but the engine and exhaust roar . |

Ah, okay, gotcha. Yeah, the ASR device allows for full stock behaviour too obviously.

Nice one! The guy knows what he's talking about and it's refreshing to see a properly German take on the F-Type. Reminds me of why I enjoy driving in Germany and why I think Germans are the best drivers in the world. I drive a lot in Germany and speed limits always feel so stifling after a good run on the derestricted Autobahn. :)
Depends on how you define sports car but from a European perspective the F-Type is definitely more of a GT car with sports car qualities which perfectly nails being an amazingly engaging road car but no track toy. |

In reality, 99.99999% do NOT buy a brand NEW car to race on a track or to exceed 186 mph!, contrary to what is shown on the Internet. It’s like judging what is a SUV based solely on off road capabilities. Thus, track capabilities cannot be included in the definition of a Sports Car. What the German YouTube video clearly shows is that there is NOTHING that a 911 Turbo, Lamborghini, Ferrari, Corvette or McLaren can do on a PUBLIC ROAD (Autobahn excluded for top speed) that a F-Type R cannot do. Further, the F-type can do more than most even in the rain and as shown in the video is more fun than most so called “sports cars”. In reading various comments over the years, there is a perception that the F-Type is luxurious. That was never Jaguar intent because if you just sit in a XK, Aston, or AMG GT — you will quickly realize that the F-type interior was inspired by the 911 and performance is focused. Ergonomically, it is far better than the 911. Luxury, and space are key components of a GT car.☮️ |

Looking forward to hearing your update once you have finished the install. At over $700 it's pricey but I'm leaning toward acquiring one myself and want to know how easy it is to install. As an added bonus I won't have to deactivate the annoying start/stop switch every time I get in the car 😁
I liked that the 700 dollar one worked with the car’s switch gear too, but again, I just could not do the splicing. The cheaper one will still program to the homelink garage opener so it will still feel nice and integrated. |
Taping wires is really easy if you get some of the wire tap connectors that are widely available. I would not want to attempt it without using them.

https://www.amazon.com/Nilight-Conne...hlbWF0aWM&th=1 I saw no reason to take the risk. The auto start/stop can be addressed in other ways. That part aside, the cheaper one basically does everything the more expensive more invasive product does, especially given that it can program to the homelink buttons for a similar integrated feel. |
