How to change Plastic tread-plates?
 

I want to change my treadplates that cover the edge of the carpet as you enter the car, as mine are scratched.

Do they simply unclip by levering them up.

Any help appreciated.

Yes, you can lift them off very easily with your fingertips. Push and snap back into place.

They are also very easy to wrap with vinyl. I did mine in a carbon fiber wrap.

Pic of that would be nice MI-Ftype that sounds nice.

Yeah, I noticed those are exactly where I put my feet so scratched up almost immediately...

I'm confused. What is considered the thread plate? Are these the thread plate? Because they do not come up easy at all. I replaced mine once and it was a pain in the a**. They are glued down and only way to remove it is the sacrifice the metal scuff plate or get a hair dryer and very very careful pry the pieces apart. No I believe they are referring to the plastic black piece past that; the piece that secures the carpet.

No, I'm talking about the black or grey plastic trim that fits between the door seal and carpet on the inside of the car that you cart him or heals on getting in and out of the car. It's sits next to the aluminium plate you describe.

In the catalog, the aluminum plate is called a tread plate and the plastic part is called an inner sill.

I rubbed my inner sills down with Magic Eraser Extra Power Sponge Stain & Scuff Remover. This made a huge improvement.

Really like the carbon wrap inner sill. Easy to do for someone who has never used wrap?

i need to do this too on my drivers side

local dealer quoted me 180 AUD to replace it - tried looking online and can't find a decent shipping price

i've always wanted to leather wrap them, i did this to the sills on my gtr when i retrimmed the interior and it was a nice detail

Wrapping appears to take some experience and skill. I'd remove the pieces and take them to a reputable shop for wrapping.

Surely there are a lot of places in Vegas.

Not that much skill needed for this particular job...

This was my first attempt at wrapping and it went very smoothly. Easy job for beginners... cut it, stick it lightly in position, lift and stretch, smooth it, hit it with a hair dryer and smooth it some more. It took me 15 minutes to do the first side and 10 minutes to do the second side. You can't break anything and the wrap is inexpensive if you screw up and it takes a couple tries.

It protects the sills and if they scuff over time (which they undoubtedly will... especially if your significant other wear heels often) you can peel it off and wrap them again. Lots of options in wrap colors / designs too!
