Just looked at the bottom of my cover and it has large imprint that says AWD. So I believe this cover is only for AWD F-Types.

I like the idea of dissipating heat quicker by removing the cover. I also like the idea that zmoothg had with the cover; cutting out sections and adding the mesh. Seems a reasonable compromise between cooler and ugly. I also want to keep the cover as is, so I need another one (V6).

I did a google quick search and found a few around from $90 US to $250, just wondering if anyone has purchased one, or has any suggestions on a good source that is not Jaguar dealer?

Just curious, So w/o cover, some temp reduction and some faster cooling... so are there significant enough temp differences where engine performance etc can be measured?

Fair question.

For me I am not directly trying to get performance, more concerned that with the VAP crank pulley upgrade and assumed increase in heat with the SC, better cooler is a good thing. It may all be in just in my head and it will not make a difference.

Does anyone here who has removed their engine cover also have the entire hood wrapped in PPF? I know that paint was a slight concern with the heat but I feel like the adhesive from the PPF would be quite vulnerable to the high amount of heat radiating from the top of the engine.

Quote: I looked for a part number last night and couldnt find one, but a 3/4 in thick piece of dense yet pliable material. I checked Topix as well and couldnt find it the part but I didn't put in my VIN. Let me look again with the VIN entered and see if I can find some more information.

It may be for protection as the engine does move and the inter-cooler on the SVR is upgraded from the R.
Hello. Were you able to find a part number on the shield that is mounted under your hood?

I have had the cover off for at least 12,000 miles and it has had no impact on the xPel.

I believe this is the part number for the SVR insulation pad:
T4N2639

Not worth it for $420.

I don't think that's it -- it's a different shape (bigger and rounded) compared to what's shown here: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/f...6/#post1575984

Those parts sketches aren't always true to life.

True, and it's definitely not worth $420 to find out..!

I'm wondering if I could find a generic heat shield from another car and just cut out a piece and fix it to the hood.

is it possible you won't know until you actually remove the xpel?

Here's where I normally start when looking for any kind of heat shielding:

COOL-IT Thermo-Tec ? Heat and sound insulating products

Possible? yes, Likely? no......I'd bet good money that the paint can take more heat than the wrap can.

2 cents,

This seems ideal to me. I just wonder if the adhesive backing will cause any damage to the paint.

Thermo-Tec Automotive - 24" x 36" ADHESIVE BACK

I can't imagine it would. It's designed to protect painted surfaces. I havenb't used that exact product, but I've used a number of their others over the years and have always been satisfied. That's probably the one I'd use if I do remove or vent my engine cover.
