My Sto-N-Go recently became Stolen-N-Gone, so I came up with a hybrid solution that hopefully be a little more secure. I used the plate frame that came with the butt-ugly tow hook holder that the car came with and a simple bracket to secure it using the same bolt hole that the Sto-N-Go uses. Works great, and gets back a little curb clearance.

Clever repair...

How did the theft occur? Did the perpetrator just steal the plate-holder by releasing the securing pin, or the whole mounting bracket?

Except for the security consideration the Sto-N-Sho is indeed the cleanest option.

They pulled the pin and walked off with it - the under mount was still attached - I guess that saved me the cost of a 10mm bolt,

Remove the ring on the pin. That’ll slow them down a bit.

5+ years in NJ where front plates are required. I use the StoNSho, it’s been on the car only a few times, it lives in the boot. I’ve never had a problem with the police, use EZ pass.

That's a pretty clever solution. Nicely done.
