Wortec rotors blowout

I just received an e-mail and wanted to share this in the group. Vivid Racing is blowing out the two piece wortec rotors. Looks like $2100 for front and back (Free shippig)
https://www.vividracing.com/index.php?keywords=WP+pro

I have no personal interest in them but in case someone else does...

The owner of vivid just posted on the FB group about these. Looks like he's willing to go $2k even for the set. Tempting..

Can you install 380mm on a base or are different calipers required?

They are on this page: https://www.vividracing.com/index.ph...+F-Type&page=5
$1200 for fronts and $900 for rears, down from $1700 and $1200 so a $800 "saving".

You would need to replace your existing 355 mm calipers with 380 mm calipers.
A modification that should be doable although I have never read or heard of anyone doing it and the 380 mm calipers and brackets and splash guards (you need all three) are not cheap, and then you would need new pads as well.

I bet it's actually the same caliper, just a different mounting bracket to allow for 380mm rotors. At least, that's what AMG does with their line up. Same Brembo calipers, with different brackets allowing for larger rotors.

Good to know though - pads are what's important though.

Nup, the caliper (and bracket) is quite different, I know coz I had the 355 mm brakes on my old XFS (The F-Type 355 mm brakes are identical) and the 380 mm brakes on both my XFR and F-Type. These calipers are ATE or TRW, not Brembo.

Edit - forgot to add - another reason why the 380 mm front brakes are a bit more powerful than the 355 mm ones (besides the much greater swept area and much bigger pads) is the 380 mm are twin piston while the 355 mm are single piston.

Ahh, gotcha. I'll have to take a closer look. Yes, these are definitely not Brembo. I was saying I had Brembo's on my C63. They sure were a lot prettier.

Looks like these are just for 3.0 and not for an R?

The 380mm apply to S and R with red calipers (and 2017 with black calipers if you picked the super performance black caliper option).

These will work for all the cars with Super Performance Brakes. This is one helluva deal, Vince. I had to pay $2600 del'd.for mine.

Yep.
The Super Performance brakes are the 380 mm front and 376 mm rear, standard on the R and SVR.
The standard S brakes are the High Performance brakes 380 mm front and 326 mm rear and the standard Base brakes are the Performance brakes 355 mm front and 326 mm rear.
This means they will only work for the Super Performance brakes and they cannot be used for the 355 mm front brakes or the 326 mm rear brakes.

DJS 10-10-2018 09:21 AM

Also, if one was upgrading the front brakes from 355 to 380mm, presumably they'd need at least 19" wheels.

Jst2gtby 10-10-2018 09:32 AM

So what brakes does my 2014 v8s have then? This seems like a good buy since I'm almost at 35k miles and started hearing squeaks on the brakes. 🤔

DJS 10-10-2018 09:43 AM

Super Performance brakes were standard on the 2014 V8S, so these should be the right size.

A little off topic?
I have a 2014 XJR with the 380mm front brakes.
I "think" this kit should fit all the "R" cars with factory 380mm front disc's?
Not sure I could get them even with the big discount but those are some serious brakes!

Looks like they've been removed from the site. Spoke with Ryan and apparently got the last set for 2100 shipped over the phone. 😆

Thanks for the heads up Ftype17 and thanks to Ryan from Vivid for such a pleasant transaction.

Did Ryan say why they were discontinuing them?

Yep, the fronts will fit your XJR no worries, and I would guess you also have the 376 mm rears and if you do they will also fit no worries.

No idea. Didn't bother to ask. I was too excited. But I'll shoot him an email and find out.
