Car fax isn't always a sure thing. I bought a cheap Chicago cab my friend visiting family there picked it up for me. When he got back it had every pully on the engine rusted and moss was growing on the timing cover. It looked like it came from a lake. I did a car fax on it and it only came up as a Kansas hwy patrol car. No mention of the lake/flood it didn't even have the registering in Illinois on there and it was a Chicago cab for 3 yrs before I bought it.
