Need Help! Locking Lug nut key help
 

Hi everyone,

So I have been dealing with a huge problem for the last 2 weeks. I was lowering my f type and on accident left the locking lug nut key on one of the rims when taking it for a test drive. Long and the short of it, I lost my key and didn't realize it had a key code. All I have is a picture of the locking lug nut with the key groves. If anyone has a similar pattern and could ship me their key to try it would be much appreciated.

I have already tried my local Jag/LR dealership and they said that the particular key is not an original F-type lock but is a genuine Jaguar locking set.

I have talked with numerous tire shops in the area and all have said they cant remove the locks because of the clearance from rim and lock.

I'm hoping someone can help me out, as my passenger tire has now gone flat and I can barely get it around.

Unless you have the locknut code, you could spend a lot of time and money looking for the matching locknut key. Depending on design, Jaguar have had between 10 and 50 key variants.

When you don't have the removal key and don't know the locknut code, the only safe solution to this not infrequent issue is a locking wheel (lug) nut removal tool.

Locknuts are intended to resist drilling or simply hammering on a standard socket. Unfortunately with the wide variety of locknut designs available, there is no single tool which works on them all. For example, this UK website shows many types of remover for different locknuts:

Once you get the locknuts off, do as many of us do and replace them with standard nuts.

ArnettsJag, please PM me. I have a way for you to get the lock off. I do not post it here as once you hear what I say, you will see how easy it is to do and I do not want this information to be available to the general public. With this being said, my way of removing the locking nut WILL!!!!!! destroy it. So, you will need a new lugnut at a minimum. Odds are, you will want to get a complete new locking lug nut set. So, if you are looking at taking this path, let me know.

This worked for me. But note it was the expansion set (ie extends the range of nut sizes it works on beyond the initial kit).. However, as others have noted the locking nut design varies a lot so my not work for you. I removed the four locking nuts, threw them in the bin and bought 4 standard wheel nuts. In the UK at least I'm not expecting anyone to pinch my wheels.
