Description:
Jaguar xjs with 62000 original miles. 2 owners. very good cosmetically but needs some brake work.
It is.
I have owned the car since 1999, my sister was the original owner of the car. All service while my sister owned the car would have been performed by the jag dealer in columbus ohio. Since I have owned the car I am the only wrench to touch the car. I have only put about 14,000 miles on the car. I have fallen behind on maintenance for various reasons.
ISSUES (known)
Rear brakes are stuck. Calipers are not backing off properly. This is most important issue. This car has the Salisbury rear end with inboard brake arrangement.
A/C compressor does not function. It is the second unit installed. My sister wore out the first by running it with the top down. She liked her feet cool.
Convertible top will not lift but will lower. This could be as easy as changing the hydraulic fluid or perhaps a rebuild of pump is needed.
CD changer in trunk not working.
Tires are about 16 years old but look like new. Michelin with lots of ozonator. Car is never left out in sun so ozone is the biggest menace.
Fuel gage not working but the dummy light does.
Throttle sticks at about 1000rpm, tap the throttle pedal and she drops where she belongs. I have added a stronger spring which helps. Still have the original. Have not done anything stupid to clean the throttle body. Just some long q-tips and rags but no hosing it out with solvent.
There is a small oil leak that finds its way to the exhaust manifold. Origin is undetermined and it is a very minor leak.
Since I have owned the car I have avoided the rain and rarely even park it for any length of time in the sun. The car is rust free, leather is as good as you could imagine. Top has only minor wear.
Well, that's all I have for now if you have more questions let me know. I am hoping to find someone who will love this car as I have. It is a very special example of an XJS.
Oh, it is white but not the standard glacier white. I have never gotten to the bottom of this. The car is a "creamy" white. I believe the car had to be special ordered for the getrag transmission and perhaps my sister was able to get a special color???
I do not know how to attach photos. Do you have an email account I can send pics?
Best Regards,
Alex Blum
