1998 Jaguar XK8, silver over black leather interior, 125,536 miles, one family owned CA car until 2021, 300 HP 4.0L V8 with a 5-speed automatic transmission, power everything, memory seat, premium audio, excellent mechanical and interior condition, VIN SAJGX5247WC026823, clean title and Carfax, records since new.

Mechanical: I bought this car to drive back and forth to work in Dallas, and put an extensive amount of work into preventative maintenance when I purchased it.  Under my ownership I fully rebuilt the suspension front and rear including poly bushings, H&R springs, Bilstein dampers, tie rods, sway bar links and bushings, ball joints, rear strut mounts, rebuilt the failure prone upper strut mounts with polyurethane, and had an alignment done.  I bled the brakes, replaced the passenger side seat switch, replaced the windshield, cleaned the MAF, replaced the crack-prone plastic intake pipe with a Mina Gallery metal tube, replaced the part idle breather hose, cleaned both breathers, air filter, fuel filter, windshield, transmission internal harness, and transmission fluid and filter.  I also upgraded the low and high beam bulbs to LED which are excellent at night, and installed Lloyd Rubbertite floor mats.  The car also has a big stack of service records since new, major work includes new tires in 2022, transmission rebuild at 114k, upgraded timing chain and tensioners at 96k, a cooling system overhaul at 100k, alternator, headliner replacement, and a LOT of other work.  Basically everything that commonly goes wrong on an X100 XK8 has been addressed with this car, and all service is summarized in an Excel file that I can send to interested parties.  All features work, it runs and drives fantastic, it doesn’t burn or leak oil, A/C blows cold and heat blows hot, etc.  This is a car that you could drive anywhere, and thanks to the full suspension rebuild and upgraded springs and dampers it rides and handles substantially better than a typical XK8.  Also of note, this generation XK was developed and built during Ford ownership, and are well known for being dramatically more reliable than past Jaguar models.

Interior: You will be hard pressed to find any car at this price point with a nicer interior, never mind a classic Jag.  The Connoly leather is soft and supple with minimal wear and a recent full Leatherique treatment, the headliner has been replaced and doesn’t sag as in many XK8s, the wool carpet is soft and very clean, the wood is in excellent unfaded condition, the sunvisor doors don’t flop around, it doesn’t rattle when driving over bumps, and it smells fantastic.  It even has a working CD changer.  The inside feels every bit like an expensive luxury grand touring car.

Exterior: I would describe the exterior as a car that looks great from 5 feet away.  The paint is unfaded and has a great shine, and the XKR wheels were refinished in 2022 by the previous owner.  Unfortunately thanks to spending most of its life in San Francisco, the exterior also has a lot of small door ding style dents and scratches on the lower surfaces particularly the back bumper.  The light color hides them reasonably well, and I did my best to capture them in pictures.  A PDR of the dents and a repaint of the rear bumper would make a substantial difference, but I bought this car primarily to drive on highway trips.  Otherwise it’s a great looking car, and thanks to living in CA there is zero rust anywhere, which is quite rare.

I have put over 7k on this car since my purchase in January, it has been every bit the fun and comfortable highway cruiser I wanted it to be.  Unfortunately I am replacing the siding on my house to the tune of about $50k, so I’m selling my extra car to help fund that effort.  The XK8 is sold with three working keys and remotes, all service history, and a clean TX title.  For interested parties I also have more pictures available via email.
