Description:
I'm selling my 1996 Jaguar XJ Vanden Plas. Color: Jade (not Alpine)
Imperfections: 4 things
Moonroof needs new motor- we don't use it.
Some leather in the front seat has wear and tear but can be restored - not torn.
Radio original and Jags from 1990 to 2000 had display issues. Volume button finicky. Radio doesn't come on right now - needs antenna motor.
Small dent in back near license plate.
Strong points: AutoCheck = 57 (others avg 30- 46)
Well maintained. Harmon Karden sound (12 spkrs), security, auto transmission, lighting, new tires, new battery, solid engine, and AC all working well. No Mods.
Engines / trans known to go 250K if cared for. 1 remote/1 valet key
What makes it special:
This car has been amazing. It was never intended as a show car - has been a fam car. Mileage is low for its years. Jade - 1996 color. She has carried us to weddings, vacations, hospitals, and funerals. When locking, she is quiet except in the winter, when she beeps quietly.
We had the interior roof fabric replaced and everything is normal wearing, according to Pete. We bought her in 2000 from Texas Cars Direct. I recently took Pete Bulban for a test drive and evaluation - he was amazed. His perspective: "This car is a time capsule. It rides well and is absolutely amazing for its age. People bring me Jags from those years - dented, paint peeling, fabric torn, knocking, and no AC. It has been a joy for me to go back in time while driving this. You obviously invested in its maintenance. This is when Jags were Jags and had souls." John Edwards - retired certified Jag mechanic and JagMac in Dallas, Tx (Russ and Ian) took/ take care of it. Ian calls it the Tank every time I start it for him.
So please don't plan to buy this as a parts or donor car. Pete says that would be unwise and he doubts anyone would do that given its condition. The perfect buyer is someone who will keep it maintained and loves the great Jaguars.
I call these the nicest place to sit. You can feel the quality of the materials and even though most things are in the wrong place, you just don't car. And if you're ever lucky enough to be a back seat passenger!!! Oh, what a ride! And the room back there! Plus the Grey Poupon tables! Wide, sleek, ready to pounce! Like a Jaguar!
