Description:
Considering selling or trading my 1997 XJR. The engine and transmission work great, the interior is in very nice shape, but it has several cosmetic shortfalls.
Cons:
- The paint is pretty well shot, the previous owner left it parked outside for years and it baked all of the clear coat on the horizontal surfaces off
- One of the tires on it currently is the spare/mismatched. I got a flat a few weeks ago and put the spare on it as I don't drive it often. So it'll probably need a set of tires to be roadworthy
- Rear windscreen is missing. Never got around to putting in a replacement as I just park in my garage. Windshield is also slightly cracked from a falling tree limb, although was recently replaced before the tree limb incident 🤦
- Bubbling starting at the rear of the rear wheel arches. Rest of the car is pretty much rust free underneath
- Infamous XJR TCS/ABS control box is corroded/failing and it triggers the light but does not affect the drivability of the car
- Needs a set of headlight lenses (might include some X308 spares
- Slight hesitation when going suddenly full throttle, along with a high idle sometimes. Thinking probably a dirty throttle body, been dealing with my XJS so haven't looked into it. Runs fine if you roll into full throttle rather than quickly stabbing the pedal.
- Needs a valve cover gasket, serpentine belt can sometimes squeak on cold starts, could use a new belt at some point
Pros: - Two new fuel pumps and pump mounts
- Engine/drivetrain runs flawlessly, has never failed to start or left me stranded
- Interior is quite immaculate, minus the plastic seat belt hole covers on the tops of the rear seat, headliner isn't sagging and the sunroof works correctly
- Everything electrical on the interior works as it should, factory stereo, new disc changer and programming from Jaguar of Roanoke about 5 years ago
- No clunks or anything in the suspension, minus a squeak when stopped and going full lock (either the front disc dust backing shield or a fry tie rod end)
- Doesn't burn oil, freshly changed as well
- New plugs (correct champion ones, appropriately gapped)
- A/C Works as it should
- Exhaust manifold isn't cracked, no exhaust leaks otherwise, stock exhaust system
- New Crank Position Sensor
I don't know what to ask for the car honestly. It's a rare XJR6, it does run and drive, the drivetrain and interior are fantastic, but it has a lot of cosmetic issues. I'm selling it because I was recently involved in an accident with my XJS and could use the garage space to work on it.
Feel free to shoot me an offer, I would also consider trading for an XJS/XJS Parts/XJS parts cars. Located in Southeastern WV.

Not sure what an XJR is worth in this market honestly. On one hand, this car market is crazy, and it's a running-driving rare car, but on the other hand it definitely needs some work to be roadworthy. I'd at least consider any reasonable offer
I would be buying it to use the driveline in an XJS convertible. I would remove all the parts I would need for that, rebuild the engine and transmission and then probably sell the shell as a whole or part it out. I would also have to do a two day trip from Pittsburgh to pick it up and bring it back or have it shipped. That adds cost on my end. Using your list of issues I estimate the cost to get it into #2 condition is going to be at least $ 6,000.00 plus getting it back here puts cost beyond the car itself at about $ 7,000.00. With 160,000 miles on it I am sure the drive train and suspension will need work and the engine or transmission could need an overhaul at anytime.
With that being said I'd be in at $ 2,500.00.

It would be super cool to see an AJ16S in an XJS! I believe someone has already done it, maybe the guy who has the Jet-inspired XJS dually? Would be fantastic with a manual, I'd love to see that done. $2500 is a more than fair offer, if you're serious, let me think about it for a day or two and I'll PM you
Is the car still available? I can get some Xjs parts and make a deal depending on what you need

Are you addressing me ?
I was just in Steubenville this morning picking up an engine from Welsh.
I do have five XJ-S parts cars if you need something. I'm an hour from Steubenville. If you'd like you can come out and pick what you need.

I actually acquired an XJS parts car for my car a couple of days ago, so I believe I may actually be good on most parts for the moment. Although there's probably something I need that I'm not thinking of at this moment.
If you're interested in the car and want more photos or something, I get back from vacation tomorrow and would be happy to get you anything you'd like.
I can get some for you when I get back tomorrow, like I said it's pretty much just at the rear of the rear wheel aches where it meets the rear bumper. The rest of the car is pretty rust free underneath and the rest of the body panels are also lacking in rust.
Hello, please excuse me for messaging so late, but I am interested in your Jaguar, but I am currently in Kansas City, MO and do not know the cost of getting it here. I'm quite sure it's not drivable from there to here!?!?!?!????
