If I read a post correctly you're rebuilding AAV units for XJS models... is this correct?
I have a'84 with a partially working one that needs attention. It almost closes completely when hot ;-) Can you send me more detail on your services and products to jt@jtchandler.com or point me to your website. Thanks!

Thanks Grant, I meant Gortex , teflon is used in Gortex as I understand. Sounds like the Red RTV is cost effective if installed correctly, looking forward to your discourse on its use. Norm Lutz uses a lot of the same. Am going to copy the D seals in alloy and use them. Nobody said dealers have any proper sense, hope the "fiddling" isn't too bad. Pretty car, especially the leather interior. Talem Bend was great, as well as Balarat. Had a nice BD party for Norm at the 'Olde English Hotel. He wants to do the Targa Tasmania in a 6ltr XJ-S he's working on. Maybe coming to Monterey, CA in August. Best, JW.

    John, Gillian,

    Morning both of you.

Glad to hear all is ticking nicely.

I have never used those Teflon gaskets. I only use the Gortex, when I can get them, or NO gaskets at all, just a 3mm bead of Hi-Temp Red RTV and the OE rubber "D" seals, duly coated with the same RTV, and NEVER had a leaker.

It was a huge leap of faith for me to do the first V12 with the RTV, coz it is a powerful lot of work to get in there again and reseal those covers.

So far 3 V12's and 4 XK 6 cylinder engines with RTV cam cover seals, and none are leaking. The procedure is "special", so if you want it, let me know and of course I will oblige.

Got the top off the Black V6 engine at this moment. Got a vac leak, and it has been played with before, *******S. Single use inlet gaskets mean SINGLE use, so why on earth they refit the old ones is beyond me. This was done by a dealer just before we took delivery.

    Take care, both of you.
