    Hi there!

Do you still have the sunroof for that Jag XJ you were parting out? I have a 1997 XJR that needs a new sunroof mechanism. I am located in Seattle so I'm not that far from you!

It does sound like a pulley bearing or water pump going bad, but I swear it's coming from under the RH valve cover. That's what baffled me. I guess there could be some noise deflection going on in that engine bay, but I had my ear right next to that valve cover and it seemed to be directly underneath. The engine is not missing, running rough, or vibrating whatsoever. This is a beauty of a car, perfect for my F-I-L, but I don't want to have "buyers remorse"....

I just thought it might be one of those "common" Jaguar noises or fault indicators. I'll definitely go back and try to do some more isolating.

Thanks for the reply. Love the hockey logo. Long time Red Wings fan.

Another question for someone obviously knowledgable... I found a 99 XJ8 (for F-I-L) that's mint inside and out - only 60K on her. Problem? The motor of course. I was hoping for tensioner noise, but it's not that. I'm mechanical (I did my own tensioners and chains), but diagnosis is past my skill set. The noise is in the RH bank. Sounds "kinda" like if you rolled two marbles in your hand, somewhat quickly, with a low squeak once in a while. Or like a bad pulley maybe. It is not a constant noise though, and also not for the same amount of time when it does make the noise. The motor generally sounds strong, aside from this. Seems to be up high, like in the cam area. Asking a lot but....... your thoughts? Guesses on repair costs? I'm not looking to replace the motor, just can't believe it sounds so good otherwise and be shot.
Again, sorry if I've intruded where I shouldn't have, but thanks for ANY reply.
