2002 X-Type V6 Jaguar

Hi There

I am from New Zealand and I have just joined the Jaguar forums today because I purchased a 2002 X-Type/V6 Jaguar and unfortunately the dealler I purchased it off has no customer after sales interest in the problems I am having with this car, I keep getting flogged off.

The main problem is the remote keys don't work, they have not worked since the day I purchased the car five months ago when the dealer assured me they will sort it out, I have to travel 130k to the dealer, I ended up going in to their w/shop and I tried the keys yepeee they worked, soon as I got home 130k later hello no remote response.

I have changed the batteries, cleaned the rubber pad inside the battery area still a dead duck. I contacted the dealer and told them I have done exactly what they said to do so the owner of the company said "I will replace your keys with two new sets, oh thank God I thought getting a instant response from the owner haha, I am still waiting 5 months later

Question:

1) Does anybody know how I can get over this problem by either bying two more at a very reasonable cost?

2) Is it possible to bye a workshop manual for a 2002 X-Type V6 Jaguar?

Thanks all

Bob

Hi bobby,

I'm new here as well I had the same problem and is a quick easy fix

1.)I would recommended that you ensure all key fobs are fitted with new batteries. ( Click here to see battery replacement guide).
2.)Get in the car and close the drivers side door.
3.)Put the key into the ignition and turn to position I.
4.)Wait 5 seconds
5.)Turn the key quickly to position II then back to I four times.
6.)You should hear a single chime.
7.)Remove the Key
8.)For each Keyfob in rapid succesion. Press any single button on the keyfob you wish to pair, you should hear a chime as each Keyfob is paired with the security system. After the chime do the next Keyfob.
9.)Check operation of each Keyfob.

I used a similar guide but it told me to do it with the door open and didnt mention doing multiple fobs at the same time, Might be wy i can only get one or the other to work :), hope this helps

Hi Bobby

The keyfob is the remote locking device that your key slides/flips out of with the buttons to lock/unlock your car remotley :)
