Hi all! I'm hoping to be a newbie Jaguar owner with the purchase of a low mileage 2003 Vanden Plas Super V8. Apparently a rare vehicle I found while looking for an XJR. Can anyone tell me what I should look for before I make the purchase? It has 71,000kms and is priced at $13,000 CAD. Anthracite black on charcoal with both VDP rims and a set of XJR rims.

 

I would make sure that it has had all the proper mantenance,and tranny
mantenance..Normally at those miles things should still function well,but coolant expansion tanks,bypass hoses will become brittle.Your plugs are good for 100k,the radiator doesnt need flushing until 156k miles...the tranny should be done every 30k,just a flush..The fuel filter is good for 120k miles..Check for any capping leaks around the inner mounts where the air lines supply air to the shocks if it has air ride...,also make sure that you run the heater and the ac making sure that the temp blend door operate correctly..I have seen many buy these cars in summer months with ac working great but when winter arrives,one side has warm air and the other side has cold air...
