Hi Everyone,
I have a 2001 XKR Convertible. It is Anthracite with a Cashmere interior. I am in the process of restoring it to roadworthy status. I am involved in serious engine rebuilding, including new custom JE forged pistons. It seems that the cast pistons represent an engineering shortcoming for these engines. The process is about 7 months old and you might guess, I can't wait to drive it. I hope I am more than half way there. The photos show the engine removal and a view of the car when I bought it. I don't think I am very fond of the aftermarket wheels, but I do have the original ones. I look forward to sharing information with you, and maybe some parts. Words of advice and caution are welcome. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for info on regular issues. Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details. It has taken 20 months and more to completely rebuild the engine and to get this baby on the road. I have: JE .020 over custom forged racing pistons, new rings, bearings seals, rebuilt heads with valve job, stainless braided oil cooler lines, replaced every rubber hose, rebuilt and powder coated blower, two stage paint on valve covers, new water pump, accessory pulley bearings, polished intercoolers, thermostat housing, all new seals and every single bolt torqued to Jaguar specifications. Every part was sanitized before installation.
Here are the before and after photos of the engine. Jaguar XKR 2001, Anthracite with Cashmere interior and black convertible top. Arizona car that has barely seen the rain. For that matter it has barely seen the sun as it has been in the shop for so much of its life. I must thank many of you Forum members for advice and counsel that I received from you during this restoration. I will post more photos of the car, and the restoration process, ( I must have taken a thousand photos), as I get some time. Jon Bond in Iowa rebuilt and powder coated the blower. Red pin striping on the wheels was painted by "Mr. Charlie".

I always park as far away from other cars as possible.
BTW, the new Michelins are very smooth. Magnaflow exhaust with an "X Pipe" sounds just right. |
