New Member - replacing Jag X-type 2004 key
Hello guys,
I ( my hubby) lost my one and only Jaguar X Type key last week and to be honest I don't know where to start. I called the nearest dealership and they told me to just have the key cut without a remote would cost me at least 500 dollars. The dealer would charge me 360 for 2 keys (without remote) and 125 for labor. If I bought the keys on eBay he would only charge me for labor but he said sometimes the keys bought online don't work but if that was the case, I would still need to pay him for labor. The local locksmith didn't give me a definite price - he said it costs 15 dollars to send someone over to look at the car and the cost of key costs 90 and up. I am looking to spend the lowest amount for this. Thanks

Welcome to this friendly and helpful forum.
I'd hate to be in your husband's shoes. Us blokes are always in the wrong as default but he has genuinely blooped!
Follow Grahams advice and I'm sure there will be a cheaper fix. $500 indeed!!

Welcome to the forum,
Good to have you with us.
I'm not sure the locksmith will be able to do it if you don't have a key, the dealer will be able to, I'm not sure if the X fobs are dealer programmed or you can do it yourself.
If you haven't done so already you should add your car details to your signature to help others to help you.
