Working on a Jag

1 Attachment(s)
Working on a 76 Jag XJS I found in a warehouse in North Minneapolis last summer. It's been sitting since 1980, not running, not stored correctly. I have it running now but having problems with the manifold pressure sensor, and, can't find one...I really would love to drive it more then a mile or two before it starts acting up. Only has 39,000 miles on it but I'm beginning to think I may have to convert to a Chev 350 if I can't find a MAP sensor or find someway to get around it.Attachment 11034 any suggestions would be welcome.

Hello and welcome to jaguarforums.com. I know that you are anxious to get started and we are anxious to meet you and talk about your car. We have a baseline / criteria that must be met before full access can be granted. Please enjoy the forum and be patient once the baseline has been satisfied full access will be granted. Please continue to post and accept my welcome to the forum.

Oh one other thing you need to put your car details in your signature. I am speaking of the Year, Make & Model. Without it you may not get the input you are looking for.

Please take a moment and read the information provided to you explaining the rules. Be patient and enjoy the site.

You need to post your question on the XJS section.

Fraser,
Thank you for the information. If I could find another manifold pressure sensor I'd be really happy.. I'm pretty sure that's the problem. I've checked the Ohms across the 4 pins on the MPS and it's within the ranges specified when it's cold but after the car warms up the Ohms drop off to almost nothing.

welcome 76, have faith, parts are still out there, just need to work a little harder than a similarly aged domestic! There are jaguar specific breaker yards across the country, specialized parts planet comes to mind in CA, call Motorcars LTD in Houston too. Good luck with the project and feel free to share your experiences with new threads in the XJS section!
