X(or S) type vs Chrysler 300C for reliability?
I’m thinking of either getting a Jaguar x type/ S type or a Chrysler 300C. I was wondering what people’s opinions are on these cars?
My main concern for all three cars is reliability, I’m currently leaning towards a manual X type petrol or a S type with a low ish mileage. I adore the look of the 300C’s but reading a few in other forums about parts costs and reliability put me off. Any help would be much appreciated.

I think it would depend on the engine. The 2.7 and 3.5 v6 are pretty garbage, wouldn't even bother wasting your time. However, if you're talking about a 5.7 or 6.1 300, then I'd maybe lean 300 if you can overlook the interior/build quality.
Basically, if you're not looking at a v8-equipped 300, the X (or S) type is the safer bet in my opinion.

I am guessing that the original poster already made a decision and purchase by now. If so, I am curious what the choice was and what the experience has been in the short time owning the vehicle.
The original poster is in the UK, so the engine options are different from US models and the UK market vehicles built by Magna International in Graz, Austria. Honestly, in the UK, I'd go with one of the Jaguars as service would be easy to find, parts for a discontinued model such as the S-Type and X-Type are less expensive due to proliferation of aftermarket manufacturers and used parts. Chrysler doesn't have a huge dealer network in the UK. I think the whole situation is the mirror image of what I would go through here in the United States. I'd probably go with a well-maintained Chrysler here due to serviceability. Even the local Jaguar dealer doesn't want to work on non-Tata-era models; the Ford years and earlier are persona non grata regarding repair work. The number of technicians who were trained specifically for the S-Type and X-Type dwindle each year through retirement or moving on to other type of work. As the cars dwindle in number, there is less need for specialist on these cars so they go on to other things, though some stay at the Jaguar dealership.

Unless they are mechanically minded I steer people away from the older Jags. Very few shops are interested in working on them and the few that do charge an arm and a leg and any other spare body bits they can.
They are much better off in more modern vehicles including Toyota, Mazda. Mitsubishi etc. I can't comment on USA manufactured vehicles but The bit of local info. with the odd Jeep and other Chrysler vehicles does not encourage me.
Cheers
