Default alloy wheel advise

I have 19'' wheels on at the moment but have got bored of them and am thinking of buying some new 20's,
But before i do has anyone got 22's on there car and if so what tyre size and do you have any clearence problems.
I would really prefer 22's if possible but dont want to buy any if they dont fit.
Thanks for any help.

Most if not all the regulars here despise 20s or 22s...I'm the exception...I had 20s on my non-STR...I've seen 22s on them, yet do not know specifically what modifications, if any, are required...Might want to go to a rim shop and let them do the work for you as I'm not so sure you'll get any solid advice here. Even if you don't intend to buy, the shop tech may off some good info. Odds are you would have a larger overall diameter meaning your speedo will be off and you accrue miles/kms slower...

I have 20's on my STR and its lowered w/ Arden springs without any clearance problems. The tires are; Front 245/35/20 Rear 275/30/20 Pirelli Nero low profile "Z" rated front and back.

But 22's are over kill IMHO Here's few pics of mine below....

It's the practicality of the huge rims and even lower profile tires that find me giggling at cars with these huge wheels on them. Then there are the curb/bumps/pothole issues. It's a big deal where I live.

Twenty two inch wheels? It's a Jaguar not a fricking Conestoga pioneer wagon!

I've seen twenty inch wheels that don't look bad but usually that also means the overall diameter has changed. That screws up the technology that's embeded everywhere in this chassis/braking/drivetrain system.

The OEM can adjust for all of that but what are you going to do?

Then there's the resulting ride of the vehicle. This is a Jaguar and not a hard edged sports car. This weekend I had the chance to take both my Jaguar and my Lamborghini Espada (40 year old design) over the same 80 trip of country roads back to back and at speed of up to 100 mph for brief amounts of times. I hit all kinds of bumps as our roads suck. We don't fix roads now just a whole lot of cars instead. It's a jobs stimulus thing I guess ...

Well the Espada does much better than the Jag at this. The suspension is more controlled and the 225-65ZR15 tires on that car just are that much better for these sorts of roads. Lateral handling is obviously no match but when do you really need that capability. On a track yes on the open road not so much.

So ask yourself if you're willing to beat up not only yourself, your wallet but the car as well for a set of 22" rims with rubber bands stretched around them?

I know, I know it's coooool ...

OK old fart now donning flame suite ...

I completely agree with you; having low profile tires depending on where you live and how the road conditions are extremely crucial in your decision making. Luckily out here in Florida the roads are pretty well taken care of considering our tax money we are paying the county and state to maintain.

But hey you have to admit they sure make the Jag look sweet if you get the right size and decent looking rims on her. Just don't go gangsta style on the rims
