Well, I haven't been on in a while due to a very heavy travel schedule with work. I was actually home this weekend and was taking my STR out for a drive on a nice sunny spring Saturday when all of a sudden a semi truck decided to run me off the road and into the emergency lane... Unfortunately for me there was a cement divider so could only go so far and worse yet someone had lost a load of construction materials about 50 yards in front of me...

Nothing to do no where to go... Brace for impact... We hit the construction materials at 50mph and needless to say my front end / clip is gone! I lost the bumper, belly pan, drivers side wheel well liner, both foglight covers, my drivers side foglight housing and all, including the brand new ballast and HID setup I had just spent 36 hours crafting and installing, my drivers side running light and last but not least my Mina lower mesh grill...

I am so depressed today... Every time I take the car out I end up with something getting damaged by other careless drivers and / or road debris... I wish they would CLEANUP THE DANG ROADS!! I had a similar incident just 8 months back that cost $4K to repair and now another insurance claim... Probably get dropped...

This is really a sad sad day I deed, at least no one was hurt....

 

Well good luck with the repair as STR parts are hard to get!!

When I hit a deer last year the shop waited for three weeks to get the correct STR only HID light. Good thing I told them it had to be from an R!! They paid $800 for the just the drivers side light and that was used!

You could always devise a front end like this for the STR

 

Geez, I'm so sorry to hear that news, cbharley10. After all that work, you must be so pi**ed. Really enjoy your enthusiastic posts, and hope you can find the will and parts to put your STR back on the road.

 

So sad to hear. Yours was one of the sweetest STR's on here. Don't let it die!

Thanks for all of the positive posts and encouragement guys... I had just spent a small fortune and countless hours sprucing up that front end... The HID fogs were sweet and a perfect match to my main headlights...

I talked to the insurance yesterday, adjuster wont even be available until Thursday to go and look at the damage. So a week will pass and nothing will have even started yet... Totally expecting this to take close to a month to sort out...

Now I am going to have the repair shop replace the stock fog housings with projector beam housings (purchased yesterday) and will be running H3 HID bulbs in the 8000K range. My drivers side fog is completely gone anyway so hopefully these universal ones I just bought will work out...

I just hope I still have insurance when it's all said and done.... UGH!!!
