I have a 2003 Jaguar S Type R.....The Driver side Bulb comes on and off.....and sometimes flickers and goes out.....The headlight does auto adjust when started, it is acting goofy with not staying on and going out.

Is it the ballast going bad or the bulb?
Any suggestions or route to see which that it might be?

Any help would be great!

Thanks Guys!

Anyone?

I am going to flip flop the ballast tomorrow morning to see if that is the problem......any helpful ideas or eaier problem shooting to see what is the issue....

Like I said, they auto level still, It will power on for a few seconds, then flicker and go out.....then turn them off, and then on, and more flicker and go out.....

Leaves me to think they are not getting constant power thus ballast going bad.....

Just need I guess someone to say yea, I am right to make me feel better about figuring this out....

Thanks again....

I had a similar symptom on my XJ. It finally failed completely. It required a new burner (ballast) and lamp.

Mine is flickering on me occasionally also, dealer said the ignitor sometimes goes...if that's the same as the ballast, I'm not sure.

Matt, I think some of these techs use different names for the ballast, (ignitor, burner etc) there's not much in the circuit but the bulb and ballast.
