Fresh Re-spray and Clean Up, not bad for a 14 yr old car
After 4 months, lots of time, effort and work, the wife's 03 STR has been completely refreshed and looks like a new car.
As some of you who jump across forums may know, I resprayed my SV8 about a year ago in Black Cherry due to a hail storm and got paid to do it since our insurance allows for self repairs. Well, the wife's STR was parked next to it during the same storm, so it got hit too. So, the entire car was torn down to the rails. If it could come off, it came off. Their was rust starting on the rear and front quarters and the trunk. All rust was removed and repaired, even any under the car. The outer rockers were in pretty rough shape, but the inners were perfect fortunately. Due to life (annoying isn't it) it took along time to do this, but finally, just this week, I got it all back together.
I don't have any pics of the work as I was doing it, just forgot, but here are some finished pics. Every piece of black trim was redone, tail pipes polished, fog lights were sanded and polished back up to like new, I even cracked open the headlights to clean out the dust that had accumulated over the years. I'm pretty happy with the paint job, you can seen the hood in the last pic with a nice clear reflection. I would call the paint a 8.5/10. A nice cut and polish would make it perfect, but to be honest, it looks as good or better than most new cars today and I just don't have the time to do a concourse finish, and it is a daily driver with 256,000 kms on the clock, so I don't think it's worth it. But I am extra picky, and have been told by several people already that it looks showroom condition, so maybe I need to chill a bit! I would hazard to say this is now the best looking 03 STR out there, not including any garage queens. I don't know what it is, but it just feels better driving a nice clean freshly painted car!

Thanks everyone! I go in for my insurance inspection on the 18th and then I gets my money! While I like doing this kind of work, I am glad it's done. I need a break from painting! Hopefully we don't get any more hail storms up here. We actually go some hail just the other day, but it was tiny stuff that didn't do any damage. I can't wait until we have a garage to put these cars in.
