2001 jaguar stype 4.0 . My new battery is dead i do not know why. But when i jump it all lights and gauges go crazy and alarm goes off. Any ideas? everything in the car is new. i have does 3000.00 in parts last month.

Could it just be a bad battery or a coil? the mechanic said hes clueless to this specific issue. Now the battery has to be jumped to start it at all and all lights and gauges and alarm goes off everytime. the rpm does not move but the speedometer goes up then down?

Jump starting Jaguars can do some serious damage to sensitive electronics if not done correctly. You should confirm the spec of the "new" battery for best advice from members with the same model.

You probably need to switch mechanics if he's clueless.
If it can be jump started but won't start on the battery, the battery needs to be suspect.
What did you spend 3k on? There may be some clues there.
