Default No air from the A/C vents

2005 S-type 3.0

The fan is running and reponds to the automatic and manual speed control but there's no air coming out of the vents. Things to look for or is there some place we can give a mighty >whack< and solve the problem?

Are you still under the 4-year/50,000-mile factory warranty?

We've got the extended warranty that Jaguar offers with some of their their used cars.

Further info.....it is intermittent. Today when my wife drove it to work, the air was gushing out of the vents. Yesterday when I checked it, all 4 vents in the dash had no air coming out. So, it seems like something is closing and holding closed "doors" in the heating/cooling system.

Some S-Type owners here have mentioned a faulty heater valve when discussing heating or air conditioning issues, especially when certain vents blow heated air while other vents blow cooled air, all at the same time in the same car. Don't know if that is coming into play on your car for your particular problem, but it's probably worth getting further information on. Hopefully some knowledgeable folks will jump in here and offer more details....

Just wondered, the dash vents are open when you have the problem aren't they?

There's always the chance of little fingers interfering with things!

Is the climate control in auto mode? if so, it will cycle air to different vents. An easy check is to place it in manual mode then switch from def to vent to heat and see if the air comes out the right outlet. After that, mess with the themostat to make sure the a/c and heat works correctly. And like Norri said, make sure the dash vents are on.

Yup. Dash vents are fully open.

I've tried to run it both in Auto and Manual. When in manual, I cycled through all the different options. When it doesn't work, you can hear the fan and it responds to the manual fan speed selection. However, no air. When this happens, no playing with the temp control makes any difference.
