Rear brakes - pulling my hair out
I replaced the front discs and pads no issue and am now on the rear.. I have the correct pads, and mow the larger of the two sizes of rear disc plus the wind in cube all from Eurocarparts.
So far so good.
Passenger side removed disc no issue and after some playing with the cube found the side with 4 prongs has the correct spacing if you use one side of the square of prongs if that makes sense as nothing on the sides with two prings fits..
After a lot of cursing finally got the piston going in as I wound.. Managed to get new pads on and all buttoned up.. Missed the spring but will go back to it tomorrow and fit sigh.
However rear driver side after much release spray and hammering the disc would still not release..
Eventually thought would leave disc for when she goes in for her MOT as labour plus your own part is cheaper anyway.. Would prefer to change it but can only hammer and curse for so long.
I then tried screwing in the piston to fit the pads.. Wouldnt go.. Ended up out more and refusing to go in. The cube is not that effective as it is off centre with having to use just two of the four prongs.. I brought a laser piston tool but the jaguar side was was way too big and the ford side was 3mm too big sigh.
Had to take it back and stick with the cube. I then thought to try slackening bleed valve but wont loosen.. Will be back on the car tomorrow but open to any suggestions that might help or even someone popping over for a coffee and taking a look with me.....

Thanks Mikey... Everything is as sorted as can be now. I changed from a wrench to a tbar and upped the amount of pressure and after 40 mins or so it started winding in thankfully. Three discs out of four done as cannot release disc four with releasing oil and no end of hammering. Recalibrated parking brake all OK and will take the fourth disc and pads in with her when she goes in for MOT. The trick of leverage and turning with pressure does work and once switched from a wrench to a t bar plus found a good location to seat the caliper for this allowing more pressure it eventually gave up :-) Many thanks Mikey
I can't offer you much help on the rear disc stuck to the hub. I had that issue on my old Carlton 3 litre 24v GSI.
I had to give the disc a beating with a very heavy hammer but using a piece of 2 x 2 timber held across the disc inside face with one hand.
It took a very long time and I couldn't believe how stuck the disk was.
I suppose the only other option is to use an old steel woodwork chisel that you don't need anymore with a broad blade and try and hammer it between the disk and hub face? Rotating the wheel as you go. Might be worth a try. But make absolutely certain you are safe under the car !
I usually chuck one of the loose wheels strategically under a jacking point just incase the axle stand folds. Kind of double protection.

As for the stuck disc, I am stuck if you will excuse the pun :-)
I only have jacks so the same as you I automatically put the removed wheel under the sill to at least prevent damage to the car should it fall off the jack.. to get a good swing at the disc you need to be right under the car which I can't do in these circumstances - so it is something the garage I trust will have to do - unfortunately now I know it is rusted on it cannot stay on -it will just become more and more afixed and be an even bigger problem in a year or so when the disc is worn out.
But it's OK for me as I have managed to replace three out of four disc and pad sets and can supply the final disc and pads to them to fit which at least means I have cut my costs significantly.
Additionally because I only have limited equipment I can't get to the under panel to do an oil change either lol.. but can at least supply the oil to the garage to help keep costs down :-)
She goes in for her MOT end of next month so I will get everything done in one hit.
This is all part of her first real checkover since buying her - cabin and air filters were the worst I have ever seen, discs turned out to be on checking close to the limit, the DPF performed a fuel dump just after I got her.. it looks like the previous owner did mainly town driving or short journeys and the servicing was absolutely minimal..
However she has only failed one MOT in her life so am hopeful that once these jobs are done, and maybe a tyre or two she will just go through without an issue.
