Your post and the other one a few ahead of you made me laugh to myself as I played out the future scenario as to what will be desirable/collectible to today's kids in the future. I can just imagine millennials lusting after that classic Samsung Galaxy S3 or Iphone 4 and comparing and contrasting them with the later S6 and I6 and perhaps customizing them with fancy cases, screen protectors, accessories, chargers, etc. Today's classic car show will give way to tomorrow's classic Smart Phone show.

Very sad indeed. I'm into vintage airplanes as well and it's even worse. The young generation has little interest at all. Talented restorers of fabric airplanes are becoming rare!

I think there are many kids that like cars, just rice burners, they are a dime a dozen. They can't afford decent used cars with v8's, they cost too much still. When I was of age to buy a car and drive one, mustang's and camaro's, chevelle's, monte's, etc were all still cheap in the late 70's through the 80's. Today my 19 year old can't afford a nice clean used 80's and up v8 american car.

Dunno about that...lots of young folks asking questions at the car meets.

The `net age has made it a lot easier to get the knowledge to work on them.

The interesting thing about some of those rice burners is that many run better, handle better & are more reliable and can kick tail on many of my old muscle cars. Had two 69 Mach I's, a 68 Charger, 82 Trans Am. Drum Brakes, poor suspension, carburated fuel, points and no Z rated tires. Would not want to race any of them on a winding road toe to toe with a supercharged rice burner.

I've tied a few. During the restoration of my plane (J3 Cub) my skills were more in line with sanding and sweeping up! Thank God for the professional that did the skill work. I was proud to be allowed to help at all.

You are absolutely right. However your muscle cars have soul. A lot like motorcycles. The classics, Triumph, BSA, Harley Davidson etc will be easily smoked by a decent running 500cc rice bike. Too bad they look like a jet ski and sound like a sewing machine. To each his own, I will bow to the better performance but for me, my head will always be turned by the classics!

I will take a classic muscle car over any ricer any time. A riced out honda civic will NEVER catch a price like most any old restored car. **** an old Edsel will make you money.

I little forum baiting I see. You'll need to be a lot more subtle to get a bite here.

He just trolls around the forums. Look for his posts about putting bonnet scoops on the XJS and other rubbish. Presumably there is a mechanism to ban persistent trolls from the site?

Default Any Actual Data?

Is anyone actually tracking the XKR prices by year? I keep hearing that they are level to rising in resale price, and it would be interesting to know the facts. I have an ’02 XKR convertible - and I have no intention of selling, I love it more every day! DaleD

The XK8 is a beautiful car that makes it's driver look like a million bucks. There will probably always be people that would like to own one. Since I will never be able to afford an E type I could be happy with an XK8. The XJS is a dramatic looking car that makes the driver look like a real enthusiast. The XJS was the nearest thing that Jaguar built to a classic true exotic car. The V12 puts it in a different class. That is why I bought one. Surely not for everyone. And surely not forgotten by any means.

I'm going to cross post this because I believe and hope that the car I love will become a classic. And this book is a great addition to anyone who loves the XK8.

Happy happy joy joy. Just received my jag book! It has to be the best one I've seen. Must have for the enthusiast.

To whom? To Be honest it looks a bit dated so it more looks like you can't afford a new one to most

Skeena,

That's just their bs way of trying to sell you a car. I'm sure you already knew that but, just in case you didn't....
