Rear shock dust boot idea
I am servicing my 2000 XJR rear upper shock mounts and spring seat cushion. I noticed my lower shock mount bushing dust boots are rotted but the actual lower shock bushing is still tight like new.
I made these replacement dust boots I'll let you guys know how they fit tomorrow might have to make more for the forum members!
x308 rear shock lower dust boot.
Test fit new dust boots.
This is the rear shock after cleaning out the old dust boot and spring retainers. The new pieces I made will seal against the inside bush groove and will flex with the shock pivot.
I had my car up two weeks ago, and while they were changing the oil, I had a look at the rest of the under-body.
All seems perfect, but I noticed my right rear shock has the same problem as yours.
So I followed your thread with interest, seems a sweet and simple idea.
