I had a 2009 XF in Vapour Grey with Ivory leather. People love the color and it always got lots of looks. Personally, I thought it was always the classiest of all the colors.

I had been thinking all along that my new XF would be ultimate black (stratus gray seemed like the only serious competition), but I saw an XF in claret in person and was blown away. I would have never chosen claret based on the booklet or the web site. I still think the darker colors look better from the front, but claret is amazing from the side.

Anyone have any experience with or comments on claret in terms of upkeep, compliments, or preferences?

I'm in the market right now for a new car :
XFR in white or XJ SC in Caviar (Burgandy)
Some more road tests will confirm what the choice will be

Mine is Lunar Grey, which I like. Although I prefer the darker Stratos.

This new colour Quartzite grabs me though. I reckon it would look great in the sun.

agree 100%, I have pearl gray which I repainted in gray- brown chameleon. in day its gold brown in non direct sunlight its gray metallic. two cars and both of them loves dust- even after 2 weeks without washing it looks great.

another great options is black and white, silver is great but not on XF,
red and blue XFRS loosk lik youngsters tuned japanese cars with all those spoilers and sharp colours.

IMHO Best looking 2008 XF with updated 2012 front in grey metallic with chromed older 20' volan rims, wchich match to other chrome - looks fantastics in reality!

It has to by Kyanite for an XFR. It was the signature press car color and what Jeremy Clarkson thrashed on Top Gear. They are sooo rare that I'd be surprised if I ever saw another (and I live in LA/OC where I see everything). People do nothing but compliment the color. And it changes color depending on ambient light and whether there is direct sunlight or not. It's the perfect color in my mind.

Gotta agree with you there, although I might just be a tad biased!

Italian Racing Red and Kyanite are my favorites if you want a sporty look but to me the most luxurious color (on any car) is black. I love my yellow Vette and an Ultimate Black XF compliments it well in the garage.

Mine is Tiaga Green, which is very close to BRG, with Barley Truffle/Walnut Veneers interior.

We had ordered a Dark Sapphire exterior, but this one arrived while waiting for ours.

5 years later, still receive daily compliments on what a stunning car it is.

Also liked the Dark Cherry color they introduced for '12, believe its called Aurora Red on the '16.

My XFR is Italian Racing Red. No other like it in the DMV area. Compliments all day everyday when I am out an about.

Love the gray look. I wasn't looking for the Emerald Fire (re:British racing green)... But I never see another on the road. Love being unique.

long delay in posting, agree with newjagnc - the XF looks great in lots of colors, but the Claret is my favorite and gets lots of compliments and has stayed looking great. I have had the equivalent color by whatever name in '98XJ, '04XJ, and '09XF, and all have gotten good reviews.
