Default Picked up a 2012 Base XJ. First impressions

Drove home an XJ in Cashmere Gold with Truffle/Cashew interior last night. Here are my first impressions.

1) Silky smooth engine and transmission.

2) I traded in an '08 XKR, but the XJ has plenty of power.

3) The interior lights up like Studio 54. Thank goodness the panel light adjuster controls everything.

4) The headlights look to be set way too high. The high beams probably make good reading lights for the International Space Station, because not much light hits the road surface.

5) I have a LOT of reading to do in the manual.

6) I didn't realize the car could receive HD radio on AM. I'm driving to work this morning listening to talk radio and waiting for the traffic news when all of a sudden the lady comes through sounding like she is on FM. Very cool.

7) The wood trimmed wheel adds so much class to the interior it's ridiculous.

8) Smooooth ride.

I'm no sure if I would use the word "Base" to describe the car you are driving !

agentorange,

You have good taste! Here's mine, also with the Truffle/Cashew interior.

And gorgeous wood...

I hope you'll enjoy your XJ. I'm in complete agreement about the wood trimmed steering wheel. So much so in fact, that when I first started making inquiries at my dealership, I told my salesman in no uncertain terms that the wood steering wheel was a deal breaker. My car is lunar gray with black interior and ivory piping but, to be honest, I think the XJ interior is one of the best in the business, regardless of color. I also agree with Fraser Mitchell; the word "base" doesn't truly apply to ANY Jaguar. Enjoy!

I do not have the wood trimmed wheel. Is that a function of my car having a heated steering wheel?

Both leather/leather and wood/leather steering wheels offer the heating function.

That's correct; mine is heated as well as being wood trimmed. You can see the heated steering wheel switch clearly in Stuart's photo above.
