Default How do you clean the x300 MAF?

I want to give my MAF a good cleaning, already bought the proper MAF cleaner.

The problems is that I can't remove the maf from it's housing since it isn't bolted in.

How did you guys clean the MAF, in place or drilled out the rivets?

Take out the maf and spray the wire. Start by removing the airfilter box for access. This should take you about 2 minutes. Very easy and straight forward. Let it dry overnight before installing again.

So just spray through the plastic 'straw' which houses the actual sensor and let it drip out?

No. Do not spray directly at the sensor. Only the wire..

I got my answer with pics from the range rover forums: Cleaning GEMS MAF Mass Airflow Sensor (pics)

in short: spray down the straw which houses the wire
