Hi,

Need up figuring out what might have went wrong with my 2004 Jasguar x type. Yesterday just before I pulled in the driveway I heard a scraping sound almost like the car was dragging something then when I got out to check, there was coolant leaking down the driveway. Under the hood, I only really seen liquid sprayed up in the passenger side and noticed a frayed belt

Anyone got any help on what it might be? Can seem to find the leak directly from the top.


Can you make out the Frey on the belt here?

 

I have only performed basic maintenance on my own X Type, but having worked on cars for many years, I would suspect the water pump.

 

Water pump is on the other side (LHD) = drivers side

 

The radiator drain valve is on the passengers side, otherwise it almost has to be a hose unless it is the heater core leaking. I got a loud scraping yesterday, broke my rear trailing arm!
Only odd noise from up front was a failing alternator for me, but tensioner pulleys are a common cause.
