Wouldn't it be sweet if Ian Callum gets his wish?

I would love to see the XK return, even if it is just a lengthened 2+2 F type. It could tuned more to the GT side of the equation. Sales would probably come from the F type sector. Even with four seats it really wouldn't be practical transportation for four adults, just kids in the back. I think that cars like the F are "reward cars" and that the owners will have other more practical cars available. The F is a more serious sporting car than even the last XKs were. I don't think that sales of a new XK would be too numerous.

If we look at E-type, 2+2 is least collectible of the run. This is because it very notably distorted lines.

If JLR were to make an X150 replacement, it would probably be along the lines of the Porsche Panamera since most people wanting a luxury, grand tourer would like easy access to the rear seats and more interior room.

I personally find the Panamera to be quite ugly, but it does appeal to those wanting a mix of sporty performance, comfort and room.

There seems to be a unique need to tow passengers and bags that you dont really see in other parts of the world. Even to the point of it being unnaturally demanded of sports cars. If we are honest about it, a Range Rover Velar is the perfect Grand Tourer for 4, and frankly all else will have compromises to that end.

And it will outsell AM because people are so naive. They take refuge in German reliability, not realizing most of AM is German- they think its British engine and American owned.

[QUOTE=Queen and Country;1778553]If memory serves, Panamera outsold 911 (while it was fresh)

I can understand patriotism but that statement is bordering on ludicrous.

Jaguar already designed a decent replacement for the XK, they just named it wrong and forgot to actually BUILD them.....

I realize it appears patriotic and bombastic. Because I misspoke and said Jaguar instead of Range Rover or JLR.

Just to clear the air, patriotism as you know it here does not exist in Britain because its seen as a form of discrimination, and it is. 'America First' for instance is another way of saying everybody else second.

Range Rover created the category of luxury sport utility vehicles. It was considered ludicrous for a G-Wagen to be luxurious or sporty. I realize they are now. But not when Range Rover had them. True of the Land Cruiser and Suburban.

Ah yes, the beautiful and brutal C-X75! For £1MM, JLR could have sold every one.

Was not a 2+2 grand tourer though.

I suspect its because they need to work on an engine first to power something like that.
The current contract for the v8 runs out in 2020, or 2 years from now. Sooner than a brake flush.

The C-X75 was powered by a 1.5 litre supercharged and turbocharged four cylinder engine hybrid-electric system with four traction motors, one for each wheel.

Well to be fair, the Aston sells for a 100k+ more than the similarly styled BMW. Some of the early Rapide's were built in Austria.

Jaguar needs to cement a deal with Williams and start co-branding Williams-Jaguar sports cars.
Jaguar should put their foot in the ring as an engine supplier once the new engine format is released like next year or so. Perfect timing.

I interpret "America First", as things need to be in our own interest for us to pursue.

It is really better if countries take this stance, it protects their people from power hungry outsiders that do not care about local customs and ways.

However, a line must be drawn between attempting to force your nation on the world, and protecting your nation from the world. Accept from others what can work for you, give to others should they accept. This is the way it should be.

We in the US were on a losing side of receiving international regulations that did not suit our people or land. It is good that is being stopped.

As for a new X150, I think a lot that ask for it would freak at what the price would be. To build a true 2+2 successor with both power, size and comfort would price it well above the F-type.

That is certainly a possibility as the C-X75 was designed in cooperation with Williams.

It seems Jaguar are more focused on Formula E as a means to develop electric drivetrains for future production vehicles.

Perhaps an all-electric X150 replacement (X160E??)?

I appreciate that, however Great Britain has rarely been that way.
Never in a month of Sundays would Rolls Royce, Jaguar, Aston, Lotus, Range Rover, Daimler, Bentley and Harrods be allowed to be sold to foreign interests if they were American brands- there would be a revolution first.
Keep in mind most those companies have Royal Warrants, they supply the Queen.
