I recently brought a XFRS front bumper and the guy threw in the bonnets vents for no extra charge. He said the template for the vent is already on the underside on the bonnet and it just needs cutting. After doing some Googling I found out that the XFRS has a recess for the vents that mine don't have so the vents will stick out a bit not giving a good look. Is this true? Has anyone else fitted the bonnet vents on a standard bonnet?

 

You would be better off getting a recycled hood and have it painted to match when you have the bumper painted. They are not that much from a breakers yard.

 

I usually make an effort to type "hood" but seeing as I'm talking to a fellow Brit I'll say "bonnet"

Yeah, the XFRS bonnet vents (same as the XFR) are meant for an entirely different bonnet that has the holes cut in, as well as fixings for the vent. They don't come particularly cheap but they're out there - usually eBay is your best bet. Often they're damaged in breakers, sadly.

The pre-facelift XFR bonnets (I find) are rare as hen's teeth and command a premium. Local Jag breakers near me wanted $1500 for one.

In the end I modified my own bonnet to deal with the heat soak

That's the best bet. Turn them into a bit of a discount on your bumper!

It’s not the simple job to cut holes for vents, but it possible to do, only for cutting with factory like dippers & repainting takes about two weeks for me.

In the end I got fully retrofitted XFR/XFR-RS bonnet.
