That's a favourite colour on these cars, I think the old Jaguar name for it was Dorchester Grey. I nearly bought an XJR on the same Asteroid wheels in that colour a couple of years ago but it turned out to be a bit of a dog compared to the seller's description - I expected to see something looking like your car, but when I got to see it in the flesh, living close to the sea and having a cover over it for 18 months had done it no favours

The very first post of this thread opens with a car of this color, it always pops up if I use my phone to read this thread, and I keep looking at it before I move over.

You changed the grill Eric... if I didn't see it on mine each day I may appreciate it more. But I really liked the other one, still nice though.

Yeah, I got all three versions now (the mesh, the chromed, and the gunmetal grey one), interchangeable according my mood and the color of my tie .

I hope you didn't just throw out that old wood trim - that is pretty nice! The gear knob change alone is a marked improvement though

Nice contrast, I've not seen a kit like that, ....is it carbon fiber, blacked out or did you refinish it yourself? I see you even changed the shift knob and tray, did you do the door panels also?

The dark wood is standard on the 98 XJR - I'm not sure about other yrs. It's a black wood with dark green undertones. Jaguar has a name for the wood and maybe someone can help with that. Anyway, I changed all the interior trim to wood. The gear shift knob is great. I had a few white ***** made of wood... maybe from some kind of game ? I chose a small one and I really like the size. I drilled a hole just a little smaller than the threads on the shifter, started turning it and it threaded itself down on the shaft.I think the dark wood would look good in a black interior - I still have everything, including the matching shift knob. Thanks, Jim

Looks great!!!

That shifter thread is M8 x 1.25 You can get all kinds of metal threaded inserts to make the knob more solid if it loosens.

M8-1.25 threaded inserts M8-1.25 threaded inserts

I used a pool ball that had a "Jacksonville Jaguar" to make mine but I thought about a 6 since mine is a 6 or a cue ball. I had a set of Helicoils in that size so I used that and it is rock solid.

Spent a few pre-storage hours having fun with the 100 last weekend ting.. tic.. tink... noises sat in the drive.
I put a half liter of Castrol R in last oil change - with a tiny leak on a cam cover it smelt awesome like a 70's Cosworth DFV lol!
