Switch Off All Circuits Before Disconnecting Battery
I was going to remove the battery on my '84 XJS for the winter, and notice a sticker that says "Switch off all circuits before disconnecting battery." I'm a novice, and don't understand what that means. Can I not simply remove the negative, remove the positive, and pull it out?
Thank you.
Thank you.
Simply put:
Keys in pocket, headlamps off, remove the neg cable, relax.
I understand that label to point at the engine running whilst removing that cable. Some do, and havoc usually follows instantly.

He, he.
The kids are catching it around here for that stuff. Oh, they do it in circles on the streets, freeways and park lots. In my day, known as "cutting donuts".
Ron, a bit of steering wheel input to counter the torque?
Decades ago, one of the flimsy side posts in my Scout II's battery came adrift while driving. It kept running n alternator power. Luckily, not far from home. simple circuitry, no harm. In a modern car, havoc, for sure.....
