My error - correcting my Post #9, above. Black chrome IS available in both PVD and powdercoat finishes, as are other shades of chrome. It depends on the powder vendor; there are many and they offer a variety of colors.

Yesterday morning, I found my right rear tire was flat. Took the Senta wheel and tire off and took it to the tire dealer I bought the Conti’s from last year, as I have a 3 year road hazard warranty on them.
Had a need to move the car today, so I got out my original Carelia’s and took these measurements:
Front: 59.6 lbs w/ 245/40R19 tire
Rear: 63.6 lbs w/ 275/35R19 tire

Tires are nearly new (~5000 miles), Bridgestone Potenza RE970AS

I don't have a precise scale at home, but without pressurized air in the tires and subtracting tire weights, I get somewhere between 24 and 27lb's.

Which really isn't that bad.

However, I did notice a big difference when I went to cold formed barrels and rims in the performance of my car beyond just the raw weight savings.(Massive reduction in polar inertia).

Much appreciated kj

At total weights of 63 & 59lbs they're heavier than I thought !

Will get my senta's on the scales when it stops raining

I'm running Bridgestone pole positions and this is what I got:

Front: 60 lbs w/ 245/40R19 tire
Rear: 69.2 lbs w/ 275/35R19 tire

Interesting, our front values are pretty equivalent, but the rears are quite a bit different. (I think the RE970AS also says ‘Pole Position’ on it).

So you're saying I've got weight problem in my rear end KJ?

Default Refinishing Wheels Opinions on color

I'd have to be a traditionalist here - the originals look just great.............. Anyone know what the colour is called or it's code number? I'm just going to use a touch up on my Sentas - only a few little chips. Don't envy you guys with all that salt and sand on the roads - we're lucky here in Australia... only Drought, Fires and Floods.....

Wonder how Senta's would look in black chrome? :-)

I’ve only seen a code on a touch-up kit (it’s mentioned in one of the threads), and the color is called ‘Bright Silver’.

Wheels are getting picked up this afternoon. He's bring the paint chips. I'm going with powder coating. Cost is $590, should have them back by end of week.
I am leaning toward Replicating Stuart's look but one color only. (Dark Hypersilver) Will see what the options are shortly.

P.S. They're closed Saturday and Sunday. I'll let you know Monday.
I just spoke with Sam at the shop and he explained that they used a liquid hypersilver paint that they mix in their shop to the desired shade and the final finish depends on how many coats are sprayed on. He said that hypersilver can be mixed to make many shades of silver.

My advice is to go to your local shops, see samples of their work and pick the one you like best.

Digging Stuart's wheel color. Something in that general range is what I'd do as well; perhaps even a shade or two darker.

I ultimately went with this:

I was surprised how many shades of gray just washed out when held to the black. I like the metallic here. No going back so I'm thinking I'll be pretty happy.

When I sold my Sentas and shipped them they weighed about 40 pounds apiece. The new wheels weigh almost half as much.

So they are not powder coated then. The powder coater I used said the same thing and that only paint can get you that finish.

Well, now I don't know what to believe because I specifically asked for a powdercoated finish because it's harder and more durable than paint. Did I get what I asked for, or did Sam give me an incorrect answer? And do I really care? Nope, 'cuz I love the way they turned out.
