Default 2024XF P300 R-Dynamic SE AWD

I ORIGINALLY POSTED THIS ON THE WRONG FORUM: SORRY

Been a Jaguar and Land Rover owner since 2000. First was a 2000 S-Type 4L, followed by three X308 XJ8s and bunches of Land Rovers. Latest 2003 XJ8, my daily driver, is 24 years old since build date in May 2002 and has 76,000 miles. Great car; pretty flawless and less than $2000 in repairs since buying it over three years ago (most of cost due to rebuilding suspension first month).

My local dealer, Checkered Flag (aka, Jaguar of Virginia Beach) has advertised 30 (imi thirty) brand new -- but 2024 year -- 4 cyl XF for $40000, discounted from new price of about $60,0000 (stickers vary around $58,900 give or take).

Some questions for fellow Jag owners, but specifically for those familiar with XF series (I drove a 5L back in 2019 that my
SIL rented from Hertz -- I was impressed).

Is this a good buy? What are the known issues, particularly the turbo 4 cylinder? As I have done with the X308s, I will start to read up on what is in the forum; but maybe some heads up, please.

The window sticker of a unit that I looked at last night shows the cars were shipped to Jaguar of Virginia Beach, recently, via Baltimore MD. Does anyone know what is the story behind cars that were built about three years ago and just now arriving to market? I would hate to buy units that have sat on a burned out ship . . . or been in a flood . . . !

Thank you for your patience.

Wow: 149 read this thread and not a single comment. Sure different than the X308 Forum!!

I think I will pull the trigger. KBB suggests the price of a used unit with 20k miles or so is worth about $45K.

Unfortunately I don't have any experience of the 4 cylinder engine. The diesel is a bad idea but the gas one seems to be very reliable.
I love my older 3.0 so would go for it if I had the budget.

I like my 2018 but the 2021 and later are the much improved versions
Here's your answer on 2.0 Ingenium petrol engine>>>> https://www.xeforums.co.uk/threads/p...ability.12966/
And make sure do a 5K miles OCI everytime to your car. You can buy Castrol Edge Extended (JRL approved) 0W-20 oil at Walmart less than $30 https://www.walmart.com/ip/EDGE-Exte...xoCLqwQAvD_BwE

The 4 cyl is fine, they are largely as reliable as any other modern engine with regular oil changes, only failure points are plastic cooling system components along with every other new car. Not as many XFs out there but if you check the Fpace and all the rover products with this engine, the common faults are not severe. Most engine mechanical failures I've seen are completely due to negligence, eg. sludge in an engine at 35k miles because it's neve had a single oil change.

The ones that are just arriving were sat in the UK, as they pre-built a bunch before shutting down the factory. There was no defect or issue with them, just stashed to provide inventory but they can't lie and claim they were built later, so they are brand new but VIN as a 24 since they were built then. Port checks involved making sure there were no flat spots in the tires, surface rust on the brake rotors, etc. Most of the cars got an extra oil change, new filters, etc if they were sitting for long enough to warrant it. I would have no issues buying one personally, the deals are pretty aggressive at this point.

My wife has driven her 2021 XF P300 R since new. No issues so far, and Jag has kept up with software updates given the transition the entire company is going through. Drives and handles very nice, quick enough and the overall interior is quite nice. It seems like a reasonable deal. The only issue going forward is how do these gas powered Jags residual value hold up. In our case, we are retired and don’t drive all that much but overall my wife loves this Jag and the 4 banger is quick enough for most of us. Good luck with your decision.
