I took a 2004 XJR to the shop and they pointed out various oil leaks that could be addressed. One was the valve covers but instead of recommending replacing the gaskets, they want to replace the whole covers and gaskets. Their reasoning was that the covers are plastic and that they couldn’t insure that they wouldn’t leak if they just replaced the gaskets. Price tag is $3k, which I assume maximizes their profit due to parts markup while minimizing their risk. Do you think that I have much risk in reusing the old valve covers? Is that a common 350 XR issue? Thanks
