I was installing a set of speaker behind the radio grille this winter and have foolishly waited until the spring to reassemble the centre console and radio.
I would appreciate if someone can indicate if I am on the right track for reassembly.
I believe this metal tab (outlined in green) on the radio fascia simply slips underneath the centre console?
The radio reattached back to the dash via 4 screws:
The centre console is held in place with one nut:
Would appreciate other owners input. Thank you in advance!
I just did this job so it is fresh!
You are on the right track. The radio panel is secured with the two nuts above and there is a center screw on the bottom that screws into a bracket welded to the transmission tunnel. Mine had a few shims on the bottom to take up some space.
The flange indicated does slip under the radio panel. The flanges on the side panels slip behind the center console. You may need to move the radio panel toward the front or back to make the central console fit correctly.
The threaded holes labeled 3 and 4 are where the leather covered side panels attach with large chrome plated knurled screws. The hole in the rear of the central console (your last picture) should be centered over the stud on the heater vent assembly and held down with an even bigger knurled chrome screw. Move the bottom of the radio panel forward or backward to get a nice fit between the radio panel and the center console. The radio panel is slotted at the bottom to allow for and aft movement.
