Morning all, new member intro. I’m Mark, North Wales based, UK. Used to own an XF, and in the build up to getting married (happened on Monday this week!) I decided that another Jag for the wedding day was a must. My Grandad had a chauffeur company back when I was a kid, Daimler limos, lots of jags, brilliant cars that got me into a lifetime of being a car buff. Paid £600 for this one from a fairly local old timer who has stopped driving and it’s lovely, zero rust and 76k on the clock.
I’d intended to fix any issues and just use it for the wedding and then sell on, but the wife loves it so much that we’re now keeping it as our ‘weekly date night’ car for some drives round lovely North Wales to visit seaside locations and go for dinner.
Car was great on collection, no lights on the dash but the seller had said it was overheating, so I put in a new thermostat, water pump and fan control module which fixed it enough to do the 150 mile round trip to our wedding and hotel, and back home again two days later. Spent a half day cleaning and detailing the interior, and put it in the local garage for new front discs, pads, and a caliper for £400 - would have done it myself but time was an issue and I knew they’d give it a check over to make sure it was road worthy and I hadn’t missed anything.
If you haven't done so already you should add your car details to your signature to help others to help you.
